20" Bisque Gretchen Swiss Miss Doll Ellenbrooke Artist Linda Lee Sutton Wrist Tg. 20-inch porcelain collector doll by doll artist Linda Lee Sutton for Ellenbrooke Dolls from a limited edition of 1000 in 1996. Gretchen was nominated for DOTY (Doll of the Year for Doll Reader Magazine) in 1996. Head marked: 424/1000, Linda Lee Sutton Bisque head: Beautiful deep brown inset eyes with real upper and painted lower lashes, blushed cheeks, light pink lip color, blonde wig with braids pinned to top of head with floral and ribbon adornment. Her head and limbs are porcelain bisque; her torso is stuffed cloth. Her original Swiss Girl old country outfit includes: Long sleeve lace-trimmed white blouse (elastic at wrist is slightly stretched out from 25 years of age), cameo broach attached at neck, black velveteen laced up vest, floral print skirt, white slip and pantaloons, black leggings, black velveteen slip-on shoes. She wears her Gretchen wrist tag on her left wrist. Gretchen carries a basket of hospitality from her region of Switzerland with: Bread, cheese, apple, green pepper, lettuce and onions. She is sweet and complete with her original box and her original wood base doll stand. In the 1990s when artist collector dolls were the rave, Contemporary Doll Collector Magazine would feature a "Centerfold" doll poster. Gretchen was the centerfold for the month and it is included with Gretchen (please see photo). Also included is an article from the same issue on the artist Linda Lee Sutton featuring Gretchen. The article states Gretchen is 18" and the magazine ad states she is 21 inches; I measured my Gretchen; she is 20 inches in height.
