'71 Vintage Mattel Talk Up Talking Doll Pull String Toy that works! VERY RARE!!! This very rare Mattel 1971 'Silly Talk' Up's Doll, featuring the recorded voice of Joanne Worley, is currently for sale. The doll is in good condition for a 53 year old! With a 4 1/2" body, 2 1/2" diameter head, and original dress that are clean and intact. The paper face is in very good condition (with very small blemishes on her right cheek and forehead) , and the dress snap is intact. The pull string mechanism works well, retracting properly and producing clear sounds. Additionally, it's worth noting that the original plastic carry strap in the back of her head is in excellent condition and fully attached. The doll is part of a series of three pull string character dolls ('Silly Talk', Funny Talk' and 'Dressy Talk') produced by Mattel for only one year. The 'Silly Talk' variant, represented by this brunette doll, is known for saying different phrases when you pull her head away from her body. These phrases include "Here comes my body," "Oops! I lost my head for a moment," "I lost my head over you", My feet are moving closer", "I'm falling apart ooh-hoo", "That's quite a stretch", and "Wheeeooooo boing". I cannot guarantee that she will play all the original messages but I have heard many of these. I have not pulled the string too many times as I don't want to damage this rare doll. The messages play very well and I assume the mechanism is in good shape, however I can't guarantee this because the toy was produced 50+ years ago! The seller emphasizes the vintage nature of the item, noting that it's sold as is and may have had previous owners with an unknown history. Seller strives to provide an accurate description of any conditions in the listing, and detailed photos are shown for a closer look. Photos shown are of actual item being sold. Vintage enthusiasts and collectors are invited to consider this 'Silly Talk' Up's Doll for a piece of nostalgic fun.
