A very early Turned Head, shoulder head ABG?? marked 698 and #7 on the shoulder plate rim. Doll measures 22.5" tall, including her hat, 23.5 inches. She has beautiful pale, almost white, bisque and lovely, delicately painted features. She's been a favorite of mine since 1982. Original blue sleep eyes that open and close perfectly. Eyelids are in great condition. Her original blonde wig is hand wefted and sewn mohair, and still quite full. Her hands are beautifully sculpted and are blushed on the backs. She's on her original cloth body, which has a tiny waist and voluptuous bottom. There are some very old repairs to the knees, but they're hardly noticeable. Her bare feet have individually stitched toes - so amazing!! The fabric has worn a bit around her ankles, as shown in the photos, BUT you can see that she is stuffed with horsehair and cotton wadding! There is a very old crack across her shoulder plate that has been covered with glue, long before I bought her. It appears to be stable and has not shown any buckling or been a worry to me, for 42 years! I'm sure this repair was made when she was redressed. The dress has been mostly handsewn and fitted just for this beauty. It's sewn onto her, and the stitching is impeccable! It was once a bit darker purple but has faded to a very soft lavender. Her velveteen bodice and hat have darkened a bit from dust from over the years. I would guesstimate she was redressed in the early 1970's because of the charming fabric choices. Her bloomers and slip are antique fabric & lace and are in great condition. From a non-smoking home. Please ask questions before you bid, all sales final. Payment is expected within 2 days.
