c.1954 Vintage Hard Plastic Wanda the Walking Doll In Lovely Working Order Key-Wind Movement with Roller Shoes WATCH THE VIDEO: [ FEATURES AND DETAILS... ] This is a fully-operational 18" Wanda, made 1954-1955 by Advance Doll & Toy Co. They only made them for two years, probably because the design is a bit top-heavy, so she tends to fall over if she's not walking on a perfectly level surface. Not so much fun for Dick and Jane! - Beautiful vintage condition, from a non-smoking environment.
- Small scuffs on cheek and chin ... because this doll would often fall over.
- Minor soiling on dress, underwear frayed around the key-wind mechanism.
- Some separation where the two molded body halves join (see photos), but it does not seem to interfere with the movement.
- As pictured, there is some elastic residue in her hair. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE - for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of "hair" lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc., and ... (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors - for example: reset eyes (in most cases!), repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. SO ...
