Jan McLean "Rose" Doll (2001) LE 302/3500 First Vinyl Child Doll Series -No Box, COA or other papers
Rose is a limited edition vinyl doll (#302 of 3500 made) created by renowned New Zealand doll artist and sculptor Jan McLean, just one of many child dolls in her first vinyl dolls series in 2001. Jan McLean is an award winning artist with a unique talent for creating exquisitely ornate dolls and their outfits. Each and every one has their own unique costume design, with perfect facial painted expression, giving the doll it's own personality.
Rose is a striking beauty, as all Jan McLean dolls are. She is dressed in a black velvet dress and matching hat which has a large bow, can be worn with the bow at the front or the back. A beautiful lace trimmed white collar with floral trim accents the black dress perfectly. The designer added a unique ribbon detail with a bow at the collar's floral accent and to the back of the dress. Rose has white lace trimmed socks and black dress shoes. Underneath her dress is the Jan McLean standard labeled pantaloons and nice slip, both white cotton.
Rose was designed to sit. Her hair is blonde, styled in a lovely updo which has a bun on top and twist bun in the back. Wispy strands of hair frame her face which accentuates her beauty. Her facial features are breathtaking, with the heavenly blue eyes with long lashes (one eye has loose lashes, see pics with red arrows). Her lips are full and her makeup is flawless. She is a captivating creation. I took way too many pictures, but please zoom in and enjoy them.
Rose measures 21" in length and 13" tall while sitting. She does not have her original box or any papers. I read that this series of vinyl child dolls all came with a gold bracelet, but she does not have one. There is a faint tobacco smell to this doll, and of course I bought her not knowing, cause I don't smoke! But if her clothes were laundered it would be much better, I would have done that except I think velvet needs to be professionally done, and it's real velvet.
Also, as mentioned above, one eye has loose eyelashes, and Im leaving that up to the buyer.
So, bottom line, she is a beautiful Jan McLean limited edition doll, the designer's first series of vinyl dolls, with a few things missing and a few things that need your attention. I have her priced to sell, and she will be shipped in a sturdy box when it's time for her to travel.
