Both of these figures were brought to the U.S. either by or for my aunt and have sat in her chalkware display case since the 1950s. She amassed a large collection of chalkware items from all over Europe and a couple from Japan. She always told us to never rub chalkware too firmly when dusting and to NEVER get them near liquids as brisk rubbing will rub away paint and liquids will cause the paints to run like they were painted hours ago and not decades ago. Judging from some of the paint wear on the clothes as well as the blotchiness here and there, she may have found out the hard way how easy these sorts of things damage. I have been researching these 2 figures as well as other Hakata Urasaki dolls and the paint blotches seems to be issues with every single one of them so I can't say my aunt was irresponsible with her beloved collection. We did live in Wilmington, NC USA and it tends to be extremally humid pretty much all year round as its between the ocean and the Cape Fear River so they may have suffered from that off and on when electricity would go out for sometimes weeks at a time. I have tried very hard to photograph all flaws and imperfections, measurements and both trademark stamps on the bottoms. I enhanced and sharpened the flaws and both trademarks so they may look VERY intense but I assure you, they are not. Please see all photos and ask any questions. I want to see these go to someone who will cherish them as my aunt did.
