This Kachina Doll is a stunning piece of Native American artistry. Crafted by the late artist Earl Yowytewa who passed in 2006, it portrays the White Buffalo Dancer in intricate detail with a variety of materials including shells. The carving is particularly superb. The doll has a broken bow. An attempt was made to repair the break, but the joined area is so small that it cannot hold. The part is included. The bow would best be replaced. In addition, the head dress with the buffalo horns and white fur is missing. The doll was purchased at auction and the head dress was mistakenly included with a different doll in a different lot. Aside from these issues, the doll is clean and undamaged. It still has a striking appearance. Yowytewa made an almost identical but larger version of the doll with the bow carried in the center rather than the end. The doll is 8 1/2 inches tall and handmade with precision and care. It is a beautiful representation of Hopi culture and a perfect addition to any collection.
