Nadia a 13” Dolfi Carved Wooden
Doll from my personal collection . I purchased Nadia in 1989, I am
the only owner. She has been in my Doll Cabinet, not exposed light, dust or odors. This beautiful all wooden doll
was carved from maple - in Italy by the famous Dolfi company. Starting in 1932 The Dolfi Company created
carved wooden statues for churches and other accessories. Their dolls first
came into stores around December 1986. This particular doll was a
special edition (Series of 3), with a maple wooden body and carved wooden hair.
Not the soft body and not the glued on hemp or human hair wig most often found
on Dolfi dolls. She has ball joints with steel springs in her arms and legs.
They bend easily at the hips, knees, shoulders and elbows making it easy to
pose her. Her head moves to the right and left and can be tilted slightly. She wears a soft light cotton batiste
pinafore, aqua with embroidery near the neck. It snaps and ties at the waist in
the back. The underdress is a soft matching floral print, (I believe it is
Liberty of London) with lace at the neck and sleeves. She has long white underpants
with lace. The detail is wonderful. She has a beautiful hand painted face, with
blue eyes and a dusting of freckles. Her shaded red hair is in a center part with 2
side ponytails and aqua carved bows. I love the carving of her curls. She is marked “Dolfi TM 9-88” There are no marks or scuffs or discoloration
of any kind. She is completely original. Original Box included We pack well and
