Rare Vintage Yoshitoku Japanese Geisha Doll in Red Kimono Kabuki Dance

Rare Vintage Yoshitoku Japanese Geisha Doll in Red Kimono 15” Tall This doll is called a Hat Dancer and depicts the famous Kabuki Dance of the Five Hats. She is dressed in a lovely kimono of red silk and gold metallic florals with a cream underlay. Her obi (sash) is a green and gold metallic geometric design. She holds six red felt hats with gold ribbons and wears a matching larger red hat on her head. Everything is attached and intact. Her wood base measures 7" x 6" x 1/2" and has sticker underneath which reads: "Dolls of all kinds - Yoshitoku - Asakusabashi - Tokyo - Made in Japan". Company History: Yoshitoku is a luxury Japanese doll maker. Once known as doll maker to the emperor, the company has been in business since 1711, the Edo era. The 6th Edo Shogun gave the name “Yoshino-ya” (Shop name) with the first name “Tokubei”. The name “Yoshi-Toku” came from the combination of the shop name and the first name.
