SHAKIRA Doll Unofficial “The Famous Idol” EXTREMELY RARE Barbie Latina
*PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION*
This Shakira doll is extremely rare! I think I’ve only ever seen ONE like this ever show up on eBay. This is the ONLY Shakira doll that was sculpted in her likeness (The Mattel dolls use the recycled “Lea” sculpt). It may not be the best likeness, but it’s supposed to be her, nonetheless. She comes in an outfit reminiscent of one Shakira wore, and a cool “Laundry Service” tattoo printed on her arm.
I am not 100% sure, but I believe this doll was produced in South America, possibly Colombia, since this is where Shakira is from. It was common in the early 2000s for South American toy companies to produce unofficial versions of famous Latin celebrities (with the exception of Britney Spears, who was also produced by these companies. This doll is in overall decent condition considering it’s age, but it does definitely shows signs of wear. This wear and aging was inevitable due to the fact that this doll is unofficial and was not made with quality materials. I believe the doll was played with before I received, so I did my best to restore it back to it’s original state.
***Please review all photos carefully and look for flaws mentioned in description***
-She is missing some hair plugs and her hair is very thinly rooted. Hair has been washed and brushed.
-There are some cracks in the plastic on the torso, most notably around the neck and arm joints, but these are not very noticeable.
-The doll originally came with a singing mechanism, but it unfortunately stopped working and was corroded, so I disassembled the body and completely removed this mechanism and metal parts from the battery compartment in order to preserve the integrity of the plastic. Button on chest has been glued in place.
-Her legs were broken off when I originally received her, so they have been superglued and carefully placed back onto the body.
-She has glue on her feet, which I’m assuming was done by the company to keep her shoes on (which did not work, because they are missing).
-slight discoloration on legs, but this is not noticeable under her pants.
This doll may not be perfect, but she is very charming, unique and super rare to come by! A must have for a Shakira collector. Don’t miss out!
