An item that has been used previously. EXTRAORDINARILY CLEAN, INTACT, & Very Rare to find one in this M int / N ear- M int C ondition considering it is 59 years old. Her original face make-up is beautiful and in excellent condition . All joints are tight and work smoothly. No splits or cracks anywhere. Her two-tone blue bathing suit is in good clean condition with elastic intact . Nail polish is bright, colorful, and intact on all nails. The fashion catalog has been opened but the tape remains on the front. The catalog has a ¾-inch tear is on the front bottom near the spine. Box opens and closes with ease. Box has no rips or dents, but the top does have a small area where the price tag was removed along with some of the picture. Each corner of the box bottom has a small piece of tape (likely done in the mid ‘60s) to prevent tears. Tape is not visible when the box is closed. HISTORY OF THE MIDGE DOLL: The Midge Hadley  doll is Barbie dolls best friend, is 11 1/2" tall, and was introduced in 1963. Midge is the same size and shape as Barbie so she can share her extensive wardrobe but . . . not her man, as the Allan doll is her boyfriend. The titian Midge originally wore a chartreuse and orange two piece knit swimsuit, blonde Midge's swimsuit is in two shades of blue, and the brunette Midge wore a pink and red swimsuit. The # 860 Midge doll with straight legs was produced between 1963 and 1967. It has blonde, brunette or titian saran hair, hard plastic body, blue centered eyes, freckles, (some have teeth), two piece nylon swimsuit (see above for correct hair and swimsuit colors), white open-toe heels, and black wire stand. The doll markings are: " Midge T.M. 1962 Barbie 1958 by Mattel, Inc ." " Patented " appears on the last line of the markings for those produced between 1964 and 1966.
