I think this Chatty Cathy is the first issue prototype and at least 64 years old: soft face; no Mattel stamp on the back (from what I read this means she is earlier than the stamped versions); cloth covering the speaker. From 1959 or 60 (also from what I read, Mattel started making the dolls in 1959 but they weren't sold until 1960). She is my doll (only owner) and she is beautiful with big blue eyes, long lashes, pert freckled nose, strawberry blond hair and a smile with two teeth showing. I am downsizing. She doesn't speak. Once in a while you can hear a sound, but it is unintelligible. Her hair is matted and stands straight up in one place (view the pictures). She shows some dirt. She does not have her original outfit. Instead she is wearing a two-piece pink pant set that is not in great condition--discolored on tip of the right collar, loose threads. It's an old outfit--I traded the original dress for it when I was a kid. My old self is not happy with my young self about this. (The outfit is clean.) View the photos, which are part of the description, and feel free to ask for more information or pictures. Here's a url about Chatty Cathy https://www.aaanimations.com/chattycathybody.html I've listed shipping as economy, but I may use a higher-level service if the price is in the same range. If higher, I will pay additional fees. Apologies to anyone affected by the canceled auction--I've never done that before--but I made a mistake (now corrected). Chatty Cathy was just the right size for a little girl and her face is remarkable. I hope the next owner is a doll lover who cherishes and displays her.
