This is an original jointed Ideal Shirley Temple Playpal doll from 1959. She is maker marked Ideal Doll 35-38-2 on back of head & IDEAL in oval logomark 35-3 on her back. She is approximately 35" tall. I am the original owner- she is my childhood doll . She appears to be in very good overall condition considering her age. Her painted facial features are still bright. Her eyes open and close and she has full eyelashes. I have noticed that her left eye tends to stay open when she is laid down. Her hair is in the original set, which I understand is quite rare these days. There were 2 styles of Shirley’s hair -this one has curls only in the front. The back of her hair is a bit flattened from being in storage. Her curls are somewhat mussed but there are still the original bobby pins in front. She has some scratches & some minor scuffs from play. While I am not a doll expert, on examining her I could find no major flaws. The only noticeable marks I found were a scratch on her right calf and a spot on her ankle(see photo). I did wipe her down after bringing her from storage, but I have not attempted any major cleaning as I wanted to leave that to the buyer. While she will stand on her own and her arms still hold a pose, she is wobbly, and could use a restringing . Her head is very loose and tends to fall forward. She is wearing her original dress, underwear, and shoes . Her socks are vintage but may not be the original as I had different outfits for her. Her underpants are very stiff and the elastic is stretched and worn. Her dress is faded a bit and needs to be washed. The last button on the dress is missing (the one under the bow). I didn’t want to remove it completely for photos but did try to get some photos of her body. Her swivel wrists have darkened which is common. She is wearing her original watch , which appears to be in great shape. Her Shirley Temple name pin is attached, but the last few letters have broken off. She is a beautiful doll and was well-loved, but I am downsizing, and it is time for her to find a new home. Hopefully her new owner will love her much as I did! I have added a vintage photo of Shirley and my then three -year- old sister in 1960 in matching dresses so you can see the doll’s history. Items sold "AS IS" are sold in the condition they were described to be in. PLEASE VIEW THE PHOTOS FOR THEY ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE DESCRIPTION. She will be carefully bubble- wrapped and shipped via Fedx If you have any questions please ask before bidding/buying. Thank you!
