Here is a very unique antique doll. The doll is unmarked so I'm not positive on its identity but I will do my best to describe her. She is a large 30" doll and the shoulder head is wax over composition. The shoulder head is very wide and measures 8 in across and roughly 9 in tall. The doll has large glass brown eyes which do not move. She has painted upper and lower eyelashes, black feathered brows, an open mouth with red lips, eight teeth and red felt tongue. You will notice the composition has some cracks and slight lifting. I do believe the black eyebrows have been repainted along with the eyelashes and red lips. Her hair is a very soft auburn reddish colored mohair. The wig is very old and doesn't take much to fall apart. The doll's hands feel wooden and the entire length of the arm is cloth stuffed with excelsior. The body is very unique and I want to say it's made out of cloth for an antique sack of flour or seed or feed bag. You can still see some blue lettering on the cloth and also what looks like a blue bird talon on her left ankle. The body is stuffed tight with excelsior and in good shape for its age. I do see a small repair on the right foot and one of the legs is starting to separate from the torso. On the back of the doll near the bottom edge of the shoulder plate, you will see some of the excelsior starting to poke out. The doll is wearing a lovely antique cotton dress with wonderful lace and embellishments. The dress is old and has staining, small holes here and there, and some of the antique lace bottom trim has separated. The doll is very unique and will make an excellent addition to your collection. The doll comes from a smoke-free home. Please let me know if you have any questions. Happy bidding!
